The Hard Rock Café, synonymous, with celebrity status and tourism seems poised to jump on the bitcoin gambling train and support the movement.
Hard Rock International, which started with a sole London restaurant in 1971, has blossomed into a global giant and expanded into gambling in 1995. To further cement its role as a gaming industry leader, Hard Rock strengthened its commitment by aligning the brand with the Seminole Tribe of Florida in 2006.
The Hard Rock casino and gaming team seem poised to leverage the online gaming and bitcoin gambling momentum as industry experts note.
“Brick-and-mortar casinos are big earners but the development of online gambling venues is becoming an attractive prospect as more and more betting is done online.”
In order to enter the online gambling industry, Hard Rock expanded its management team to include online gaming professionals. Recently, Kresimir Spajic, with professional experience developing online gaming business models and market penetration strategies, was hired as Senior Vice President of Online Gaming. Hard Rock International executive Jon Lucas explains the significant hire:
“Kresimir’s abundant domestic and international experience in the online gaming industry makes him an ideal fit for this position, and we look forward to seeing our gaming business continue to grow under his leadership.”
Does this mean Hard Rock will now accept bitcoin?
For bitcoin gambling enthusiasts, not quite.
Current online gaming sites are dominated by credit card payments and processing, although bitcoin continues to make strides. For online casino operators, the costs of traditional payments will continue to add up and the advantages of bitcoin payments and processing still shine.
First, bitcoin is highly secure, which is the primary requirement for online gaming.
Second, bitcoin provides payment processing that is quick, easy and lower costs than the traditional model.
Third, bitcoin appeals to an international audience because players automatically convert into their fiat currency.
For now, traditional casino operators, like Hard Rock, seem to acknowledge the future of the gaming industry, but tend to move cautiously at the moment. There are some online casino operators that will experiment with accepting bitcoin for certain games, such as slots. Increased experimentation is a positive sign.
The continued momentum of bitcoin gambling continues with major casino operators seriously expanding leadership positions to address online gaming. For the bitcoin gambling momentum to continue, bitcoin enthusiasts should follow the trends and wait for additional bitcoin adoption, usage and experimentation among major gaming brands.
